1/29 Dawn Coupon

Were you unhappy when you realized the 1/29 P&G coupon for Dawn had a really specific product list?  I was more unhappy when I got to Market Place and found that none of these products are part of the $1 sale!  Boo!  Market Place did have the bigger size bottles for two-something which would be one-something after the coupon doubles.  Still not a bad price for a big bottle of dish detergent.  But, I'm hoping for a good sale before the end of February!  I must say I kind of like the names and colors of these new guys.  I really want to try the pink, purple, and white varieties!

Would You Make Your Own Liquid Hand Soap?

I came across this very interesting photo on Pinterest and couldn't resist reading the blog post on How to Make Liquid Hand Soap from a Bar of Soap.  You can find this clever tutorial on The Famer's Nest blog.

Would you make your own liquid hand soap?  I'd seriously consider it if Dial doesn't release a coupon soon!  Last year, there were several 35-cent off coupons that coincided with a 10 for $10 sale at Kroger.  The coupon doubled making each liquid hand soap the low, low price of 30-cents.  I stocked up but my supply is dwindling!

So, it couldn't have been better timing to find this "make your own" tutorial.  I'm not about to pay $4.99 for a bar of any kind of soap so I'll have to try this with something more economical.  And I know the tutorial says you can find liquid glycerin just about anywhere, but we live in rural America so I'll believe it when I find it!

Don't Overlook the Coke Coupon in the Louisville Courier

If you picked up a copy of the Louisville Courier today, be sure to check for the "Save $2 Now when you buy four (4) 12-packs, 24 oz 6-packs, or 12oz 8-packs of any of the Coca-Cola Company" coupon.  This coupon is on the back page of the Metro section on the ValuMarket ad.  There's no store logo, just a picture of Coke products and 4 for $12 notated.  The coupons does state Manufacturer's Coupon so you should be able to use it anywhere!  My suggestion is use this coupon at Kroger this week where Coke products are on sale 4 for $12.  Good luck!

My hubby had to drive to two different locations in Madisonville to get two copies of the Louisville Courier this morning.  One copy had two Red Plums, a Smart Source, and a P&G with a Target ad.  The other had one Red Plum, a Smart Source, and a P&G with Target and Kmart Ads.  Another week without Kroger or Pharmacy ads.  I understand newspapers have a "print run" and that each paper may have different items included.  But, really, why would we need the Target ad instead of the Kroger or pharmacy ads?

Big Lots: Save 20% Today (1/28)

Are you a Buzz Club Rewards Member at Big Lots?  Well, if you have that little orange card you can save 20% on your purchase today!  If you haven't signed up, you can do that today, too!  Big Lots doesn't accept manufacturer's coupons, but they carry a wide variety of products so I'm sure you can find a good deal with 20% off.  Today would be a great day to grab donation items at an even lower discounted price!  Just keep an eye on those expiration dates!  If you're looking for donatable items for this fall, try to keep your expiration dates after May/June 2013, that will make the item useable through the end of the next school year!

Saturday = Kmart Doubles

It's Saturday and you know what that means!

It's Kmart Doubles Day!

Here's a little cheat sheet for you:
  • Be sure to present your Shop Your Way Rewards card
  • Coupons with a face value of $1 or less will Double
  • When you purchase $25 in Grocery and Drugstore merchandise (before coupons)
  • Limit of 5 coupons will double
  • No more than 4 coupons for the same product will double
Things to remember when planning your shopping trip:
  • $1 coupons make the best Double Coupons!
  • Need a Basket Filler to push your total to $25?  Consider the Smart Sense water priced 2 for $7.  That's $3.50 for a 35-pack of bottled water!  That's much more economical than the Pepsi this week.
  • Keep your basket total as close to $25 as possible.

QR Explained

Someone asked me recently about those little black and white boxes that are popping up in all sorts of places.

Places like coupon inserts and advertisements.

See the one there on the left, below the Treat Your Sweets picture?  Well, after a little googling, I have learned that those little black and white boxes are what you call a QR Code.

QR Codes are "quick links" or "hot links" to web pages.  I read that scanning the code saves you the time it would take to type out the web address (I didn't say I thought it was completely locgical!).  I type pretty fast, so I think I could beat the QR Reader, but I still think these things are neat.  And I think we're going to see them popping up more and more often!

It works like a barcode but you use your iPhone (or Android?)  instead of a cash register.  You'll need to find a QR Reader ap for your phone, I loaded a free one just to see how it worked.  Basically you open the QR Reader and hold it above the QR Code so that it "scans" the picture.  Then, as if by magic, your phone will pull up the webpage encrypted into the code.  I just gotta say I think it's a totally cool thing!  Of course, the big marketing firms are using the data as a marketing tool, but it's still really cool!  And the great thing is that you can scan it right off this computer screen (unless you're reading this on your phone!).  I have already scanned the above code a dozen times, but I tried it again just to be sure it will work and it did!  Have fun!

Meet the Hopkins County Couponer QR Code

Let me be the first to introduce you to the brand new, QR code for The Hopkins County Couponer!

{{Insert excited squeal and sleep deprived happy dance here!!!}}

So, if you think the web address is a little long (and it really is, isn't it?!) you can easily reach the blog on your QR reader capable cell phone by simply scanning this nifty little QR code!  Easy-peasey!

I'm pretty sure you can get the same, quick results by simply adding the web address to your "favorites" folder, but I am super excited to have figured out how to do it!  I can see this being cool and useful if I ever get around to updating my info card or creating any useful couponing tools to share!  My todo list just got a little bit longer!
