Check Me Out at Treat Your Sweet!

Happy Wednesday morning, y'all!  Did you make it to Treat Your Sweet last night at McCay Chiropractic?  I spent about an hour visiting with the vendors and had the most amazing time!  I am predicting 2012 to be the year of the in-home parties and with great products from Celebrating Home to Tupperware to Premiere Jewelry to Thirty One to Mary Kay to Candle House, the sky's the limit for choosing a party that fits your style!  And the ladies behind those wonderful products are simply fabulous!  It was so much fun meeting and talking with you all!

And did you notice the picture there on the left?  Yep, that's me with author Matthew Hughes.  I don't think I've ever posted a pic of myself before, so now you can put a face with my ramblings!  I didn't have a chance to crack open the book last night, but I am super excited about it.  That was my first official book signing, too!  Mr. Hughes was a good sport, posing with the crazy lady wanting a picture!

I had a wonderful time talking with the ladies and gentlemen at Treat Your Sweet and I hope they do it again sometime soon!  We even chatted a little about couponing!  Did you know that Thirty One has a shopping organizer?  I had no idea, but now I know what I want for Valentine's Day!  Thankyou McCay Chiropractic and Staff for hosting such a fun event!  I think I'll have to see if I can set up a couponing table next time!

Join McCay and staff as they host a 12 vendor event offering products from Mary Kay to Tupper Ware to 31 to Premiere Jewelry to Breast Cancer Awareness to Spinal Screenings to Relay for Life!

Have a chiropractic question?  Dr. McCay will be there with answers and coupons for chiropractic care!  That's right, there will be coupons!

Meet local author Matt Hughes who will be in attendance for a book signing!  How often do we get the opportunity to meet a real-life, published author?  Pick up your very own copy of Mon Coeur Mort for $11 at Treat Your Sweet or purchase a copy on Amazon for 18-bucks!  Couponers, we gotta love saving $7 instantly AND getting an autograph AND helping support Relay for Life!

Plus, there will be give-aways and much, much more!

Best of all, a portion of the profits will benefit the Hopkins County Sheriff's Department Relay for Life Team.  If you're not familiar with Relay for Life, it's "a life-changing event that helps communities across the globe celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease" (per the website).

Santa's Workshop, Not for Faint of Heart!

Wooo, I am one tired mommy tonight!  I worked in the Southside Santa's Workshop (proudly sponsored by the PTA) today and I am beat!  Kudos to the moms who worked on Friday!  Those ladies were warriors, and deserve an award.  Not only were they short handed but they were super duper busy!  So a big ol' THANKYOU to the moms who ran themselves ragged on Friday!

And a big ol' THANKYOU to all the kids who have shopped!  I heard it was a shopping wipe out last week and Ms. Cindy had to restock the workshop over the weekend to get ready for this week's shoppers!  I hope the kids enjoyed their shopping today as much as I did.  I just loved seeing what they picked out for their families...and for themselves!  I can't wait to see what my kids buy for themselves in a few years!

Don't forget, none of this would be possible without the PTA and the parents who volunteer to help out!  So a big ol' THANKYOU to all of you, too!  See you guys again tomorrow for another round of Santa's Workshop!  I joked today that I didn't know what Santa pays his elves, but I'm pretty sure it's not enough!

There was a nice highlight, though!  We were serenaded through out the day by the video of Friday's Holiday Program.  And I may be biased, but I think their singing is the best Holiday Music I've heard all year!  Great job kids!

McCay's Donation Drop for Fisher House

My preschooler and I stopped into McCay Chiropractic yesterday to make a Wisk donation and I was tickled to see the little patriotic Christmas tree!  It's beginning to look a lot like....well, like a lot of donations!

If you haven't made a donation yet, you've still got time to help make a difference for Fisher House!  The donation drive ends next Tuesday, which is fitting because it's my soldiers birthday!

Thank you McCay, for sponsoring this donation drive!  And thankyou to everyone who donates!

McCay is located on S Main across from the Carhartt store!  Previous posts here and here for additional information and a list of "wants" and "needs" for Fisher House!  And, in case you missed it before, these donations will help military families at Fort Campbell, our neighbor only 45 minutes away from Hopkins County.

Southside Christmas Program Today

My preschooler and I had the pleasure of hearing the Fifth grade students at Southside practicing for their big Holiday Program yesterday and I wanted to let them know they sounded GREAT!  So.....
Hey all you Fifth graders, you did a GREAT job in practice yesterday!  "Break a leg" in your performance today!

Good Wednesday Morning!

Good Morning!  It's hump day and that means a new Market Place, Sureway, and Food Giant ad is available.  View them online at FoodGiant.com!  I've got the Market Place Matchup posted and ready this morning and I'll have the Food Giant / Sureway Matchup later this morning!

I wanted to take a minute to say THANK YOU to Ms. Teresa with the Southside Family Resource Center for inviting me to speak at an Extreme Savings workshop last night!  It was open to Southside parents and faculty and we had about 20 people join us!  If you're scrolling through my posts from yesterday, all of those "Know How to Coupon" posts were for the workshop.  I gotta say I was pretty nervous before we got started, but I think it all went well!  I had a great time and I hope everyone else did, too!

As part of the workshop, Ms. Teresa and I went to Walmart to Price Match and Coupon with a budget of $50.  I made a list of items and we browsed, compared, and filled a cart!  We ended up with 25 items and a Walmart price of $64.58!  After price matching our total came down to $49.27 (a $15.42 savings without a single coupon!).  After coupons, the final total came to $40.21.  We were able to save $24.37 just by price matching and using coupons!  Wow, that puts things into perspective, doesn't it?  And we did the whole trip, including checkout, in less than an hour.  Never underestimate the power of a good sale, a good coupon, and a good cashier!

I learned at the workshop that one couponer has a coupon savings can where she puts cash equal to what she's saved using her coupons.  She calls it her "can-cation" and her family enjoyed a great vacation last year thanks to all of her hard work!  I love this idea!  And I love the name "can-cation" as in you CAN vacation for less when you save using your coupons!  I'm starting a "can-cation" in January so I can see my savings accumulate from one shopping trip to another.  I challenge you to start your own, too!  And you could use the savings for anything!  Imagine how many donation items we can send to the Food Drive next fall!  Or, if you're saving $25 a trip, you could have a great Christmas fund by December!

Another THANKYOU to all the ladies who came out for the workshop!  I hope you enjoy the blog and find lots of helpful information on here!  You can always email me if you have a question or you spot a deal worth sharing!  Email me at couponforchange@LIVE.com

Thanks again, and happy couponing!  --Misty @ the Hopkins County Couponer

Fisher House Donation Drop

As your holidays become merry and bright, share the feeling by making a donation to Fisher House at Fort Campbell.  McCay Chiropractic is proudly accepting donations for this very important cause.  My husband is a soldier stationed at Fort Campbell so all things military are near and dear to me.  The Fisher House is a wonderful location that keeps families together as our wounded warriors head down that sometimes long road to recovery.

Here's a little story you might not hear anywhere else...I happen to know a young woman who is the daughter of a Vietnam Veteran, and she just happens to work at McCay Chiropractic.  In the past, the office had joined together to support a charity of some kind during the holidays.  This year, they wanted to support a military cause.  I know for a fact that this young woman worked hard to find a great cause and wouldn't give up when her phone calls were not returned.  Finally, she connected with the great folks at Fisher House and a dream to help soldiers became an attainable task!  There is nothing greater than the determination of a great and caring person!  Thank you SH!

Now, let's not allow all her hard work go to waste!  Pick up a donation item and drop it off as you head home from shopping.  If you're a couponer, clean out some of your stockpile and donate it to a wonderful cause.  I'm telling myself to do this, too, because I haven't dropped off a donation yet.  But, I do have HE Laundry Detergent with Fisher House written all over it!  And, don't forget that this Saturday is another "Save $5 off a $25 Purchase" day at Dollar General.  Work in a large office?  You only need twenty people willing to give a buck for a GREAT cause!  If you or your office make a donation, I'll promote you shamlessly on this blog!  Remember, this holiday isn't about the toys, it's about helping your fellow man!

Box Tops 4 Education Daily Sweepstakes

I love Box Tops 4 Education!  It's a really easy way to give to your school.  I think each box top redeemed is worth 10-cents and you can find them on A LOT of products you probably already have in your kitchen {especially is you are a Kroger sale shopper!}.  Right now Box Tops has a daily chance for you to win  5,000 Bonus Box Tops for your school {if my math is working this morning that equals $500!}.  Sign up for a daily email reminder so you won't miss a day!  View a complete list of sweepstakes on the Box Tops website!  The daily reminder is for the Land O'Lakes sweepstakes, btw.  But, while you're there go ahead and enter the Totino's and Zoo Pals Sweepstakes, too!

Here's a look at Southside's Box Top Earnings as of this morning!  I know we've earned more than that, but we've still got a way to go before reaching that goal of $2,233!  Every Box Top gets Southside just a little bit closer!

Put some RED WHITE & BLUE into your Holiday

Can you tell how enthusiastic I am about McCay Chiropractic's donation drive?  I'm affectionately calling it
"Operation: Donation Drop" and it benefits Fisher House at Fort Campbell which is pictured there on the left.
This is just such a wonderful cause and it touches many a military family.  If you or a loved one has ever recovered from a long illness you know how important it is to have your family nearby.  Fisher House makes this possible for military families and this is happening a mere 45-minutes from Hopkins County.  It's a great place and your donations will be greatly appreciated.

Bring your donations to McCay Chiropractic conveniently located at 920 S Main St in Madisonville.  They will be accepting donations through December 20th.
Office Hours: Monday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday 8:00-6:00 (closed for lunch 12:30-2:00) and Saturday 8:00-11:00.  They're open late so you can drop your items off on your way home from work!  Be sure to head over to the McCay Facebook page and let them know what a wonderful thing they are doing for military families!  And don't forget to put "Operation: Donation Drop" on your shopping list as you head out today!  Couponer's CAN make a difference, one donation at a time!

Give to Fisher House, Help a Wounded Soldier

I am super happy to share this info with you today!  Please take a little time out of your holiday festivities and think about the wounded and recovering soldiers who live no more than a 45-minute drive from Hopkins County.  Drop your donations at McCay Chiropractic (920 S Main, across from the Carhartt store) anytime Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday from 8-12:30 and 2-6 and also on Saturdays from 8-11.  A big THANKYOU to the wonderful staff at McCay for initiating this drop spot for donations!

I see lots of things on the "needs" list that you can easily find coupons for!  But, don't limit your donations to just the things on the list.  Any health and beauty and household items will make great donations.  Board games, magazines, books...all those things that help pass the time.

Thanks again, McCay, for doing something wonderful for our military community!

If you'd like to learn more about Fisher House, please visit the website:  http://www.fortcampbellfisherhouse.org/, it will inspire you.
FYI: Great Escape is the theatre in Clarksville and you can purchase Gift Cards on the website in $10, $25, and $50 increments.  If you're shopping in Clarksville, it is located on Tiny Town Road, just off I-24.

Last Week for Food Drive at Southside

If you're a Southside Elementary School parent, don't forget this is the last week to send donations for the Cannded Food Drive.  I haven't checked this week to see which pod is leading the race, but I would like to wish "Good Luck" to all of the pods!  Clean out those cupboards and help fill the donation tables!

You can get 50-cent canned goods at Market Place, Sureway, and Food Giant this week.  And you don't need a coupon!  If you're a Walmart shopper, go ahead and price match the Luck's beans in the Market Place ad.

Or, if you were lucky enough to get the Green Giant canned vegetables coupon, score super cheap veggies at Market Place where your coupon will double for extra savings!  {I've checked several coupon clipping sites and no one seems to have any of the Green Giant coupons available, total bummer.  There are some available on ebay, if you want to pay the price!}
