Starkist Printable Coupon

Sign up at the Starkist website to print a 50-cent off any Starkist Pouch Product.  I had a little trouble finding the coupon for this one.  I signed up, then it sent me an email to confirm and change my password.  I clicked around the website and could not find the coupon!  I went back to my confirmation email and there it was:  Once you have completed your registration click here to get your Starkist coupon.   It is double-able and I was able to print it twice!  Mine expire on 8/1 so plenty of time to find a good sale!  Thanks MoJoSavings!

Store Brand v. Name Brand

Seasoned shoppers know that Store Brands are cheaper than Name Brands.  Almost, but not always cheaper!  With the right coupon, you can sometimes get Name Brands cheaper than Store Brands!  This box of Q-tips at Market Place is an example of the power of a good coupon.  I had a double-able 30-cent coupon for any one Q-tip from the 5/22 RP.  After coupon the cost of the 170 count Q-tip was only $1.09 compared to the everyday price of $1.14 for the Store Brand.  I've seen this 30-cent coupon twice since I began couponing in January and the small box at Market Place has been the best buy I have found.

Update: Heinz Ketchup Coupon

I price checked the Heinz ketchup at Market Place yesterday just so I could give you an update from my previous post on the 50-cent off coupon.  After the math, the 20 oz bottle is your best buy right now.  If you have the 50-cent coupon from the 5/22 SS, you can get the 20 oz bottle for only 75-cents!  The 14 oz bottle would be 68-cents, but why not pay 7 cents more and get the bigger bottle?  Not sure how long this price will last, but I still expect even lower prices sometime between now and the 19th when the coupon expires.  If you're not willing to risk it, I'd recommend using the coupon now!

Update: Chicken Of The Sea Printable

Did you print the Chicken of the Sea coupon I posted about the other day?  It was a 50-cent coupon for any Chicken of the Sea product.  And it doubles to a dollar at Market Place, Sureway, and Kroger.  I didn't have the coupon in the store with me yesterday, but I did remember to stop and check the prices at Market Place.  You can get the "in oil" variety free, the regular price is 98-cents!  Pay the low price of 15-cents for the pink salmon packets or 18-cents for the "in water" variety!  I will be sure to have these coupons with me on my next trip to Market Place so I can add these products to my donations stockpile!

Thanks again, and happy couponing!

Printables from Walmart?

Here is a link worth book marking in your internet browser.  It's a link for printables offered through Walmart's website.  Basically, the Walmart page links you to the manufacturer's web page where you can print the coupons.  These are not "walmart" coupons they are manufacturer's coupons that you can use any place manufacturer's coupons are accepted!

http://instoresnow.walmart.com/In-Stores-Now-Coupons.aspx

And here's a link for requesting free samples.  I haven't tried this one yet!

http://instoresnow.walmart.com/In-Stores-Now-Free-Samples-and-Coupons.aspx

Although you hear "horror" stories about couponing at Walmart, it does seem that they are genuinely trying to attract the couponers to their stores.  From my point of view, Walmart is going to have to do better in the price game to get me shopping there again.  I went from shopping there about 90% of the time, to shopping there 10% of the time after I began couponing.

White Cloud Toilet Paper Printable

Before I began couponing and watching sale prices, I purchased White Cloud toilet paper exclusively.  White Cloud is only available at Walmart, and several years ago it was competitively priced to other brands.  The gap in price has dwindled over the years and now it's not a low price stand out, but it remains one of the less expensive choices.  If you like it, go to the website and click the "promotions" button to get a $1 off coupon for a 12 roll or larger package.  I believe the 12 roll packs run about $6.  http://www.mywhitecloud.com/

Compare and Save: Dial Soap

Have you purchased any Dial soap lately?  The 3-pack is on sale this week at Walgreens, buy one get one free.  I'm not sure what the instore price is.  But, I used Walgreens online prices to see which package brings you the best overall value for your money!  I had to break this down by ounce since the 2-pack bars are 3.2 oz and the 3 & 8-pack bars are 4 oz.  Here's what it looks like:

Buy the 2-pack at $1.00 and pay $0.156 per ounce or 50-cents per bar.
Buy the 3-pack at $2.79 and pay $0.232 per ounce or 95-cents per bar.
Buy the 8-pack at $5.99 and pay $0.187 per ounce or 75-cents per bar.

I was reasonably surprised to see that the smallest, cheapest package is actually the best value.  You can find the 2-pack at Kroger and Market Place.  Dial is frequently part of the 10 for $10 sale at Kroger, but it was in the $1 section at Market Place.  If you threw in a 2-pack each shopping trip, your budget would barely feel it and you'd never be out of soap!

Finish Dishwasher Products

Many of you may be using Finish Dishwasher products and many of you may have never heard of them!  I had purchased the Jet-Dry for years but had never tried the Dishwashing Products.  Then I started couponing and watching the sales circulars.  That's when I noticed that the Finish Dishwashing products were on sale...a lot!  And they were selling at a great price for stocking up.  Plus, the coupons were abundant.  They have been released in the Sunday paper several times since January and the Finish website offers internet-printable coupons, too!  Go to:  http://registration.rb.com/finishdishwashing.com/offers/  and fill in some information to print 6 different coupons for Finish products.

One of those 6 coupons is for $1 off Finish Quantum.  Walmart carries a Finish reuseable tin for $2.97 with a 10 pack of Quantum Finish inside and a 50-cent off coupon!  (That 50-cent coupon is double-able at Kroger, Market Place, and Sureway!)  Some Walmarts have a larger reusable tin for about $6, but Madisonville did not have it.  I have seen the bigger tin at Dollar General.  Keep in mind that your out of pocket will be higher for the bigger tin.

Even better, I read on Wild For Wags, that there is a register reward deal on Finish products!  She's got it all worked out on her website:  http://wildforwags.com/walgreens-deals/2011/06/06/free-finish-jet-dry-or-just-24/  The only down side I see for the Walgreens purchase is your Out Of Pocket is going to be $2.75 plus tax per box.  You'll have to purchase each box separately to get the $1.50 reward.  The "It's Like Paying" price of $1.24 is a really great price for dishwasher tabs.  I have yet to see a similar sale for Cascade!  Walgreens had a similar sale a couple weeks ago, and it was total wipe out at all of the Walgreens I visited.  So, best of luck, if you are looking for these this week!

If you just don't want to deal with the Walgreens madness, head to Walmart and pick these up in the tin.  You will get half as many, but you also get a coupon for next time and that reusable tin!  I love tins!

Thanks again, and happy couponing!

Are You Ready For More Extreme Couponing?

As I watched last week's episode of TLC's Extreme Couponing, I noticed they were advertising next week's episode as the "season finale".  That can only mean that another season of the show is in the works.  Guess the "if you want to be on the show" ad should have been a dead give away, huh?

I have been a dedicated supporter of this show through all of the negative feedback from other long-time couponers.  I'm a new couponer and I owe my interest in couponing to that show.  As do many other newbies.  We've all got to start somewhere!

I eagerly tune in each week to see what kind of savings these couponers come up with and, more than anything, to see what kind of spin the producers put on the people.  When their 15-minutes of fame is up, the couponers are really not painted in the most flattering manner.  I think a lot of the interview comments are taken out of context, which is unfortunate.

But, do we really need another season of Extreme Couponing?  I think anyone who watches a few shows can more than get an idea of how to coupon.  The real info comes from the websites/blogs devoted to couponing, don't you think?  I can't foresee a lot of twists or turns for another season.  Couponing is pretty strait forward.  I'm just not sure I'll be tempted to tune in for another season.  What about you?

Use Your Rayovac Coupon Correctly!

Couponer's know that you need to purchase the smallest package allowed by your coupon to get the biggest amount of savings.  In our area, where products are often not available or have higher prices than other places, it's difficult to score the same great deals you may read about on couponing websites.

This Rayovac coupon is a good example of how you could inappropriately use a coupon for a cheaper product.  The coupon states "Save $1 on any pack of Rayovac alkaline batteries" and the couponing websites were telling us there is a $1 pack of batteries available at Walmart.  I believe I had posted about this, too.

I combed over the battery stand and checkout lanes yesterday, looking for this pack of batteries.  The "alkaline" batteries are packaged in blue, and the smallest I could find was $3.47 for 6 AA.  I do imagine that in some areas, there is a 4 pack of these batteries, I just couldn't find them in Madisonville.  What I did find is a "zinc chloride" battery packaged in red, at the low price of $0.97.  Curious, I had the cashier ring up the zinc batteries and then scan the coupon, the transaction went through without a beep.  I purchased both the zinc and the alkaline batteries because I knew the coupon was not intended for the purchase of the cheaper batteries.

If you find the blue packaged batteries for a buck, I want to know where you found them!  I've still got another coupon and I'd love to score free batteries!

Jolly Time Goodies!

Jolly Time popcorn is on sale through tomorrow (6/7) at Sureway for 2/$4.  There was a great coupon in the weekend paper recently for 50-cents off that does indeed double to a dollar at Sureway making each box a buck!  It's a 3-pack box, but if you've bought popcorn lately, you know a buck is cheap for popcorn!

To make this even better, Jolly Time has a promotion available to us!  Simply send in 3 UPCs from their Microwave Popcorn Products (excluding singles) and receive a FREE Reusable Grocery Bag!  And it looks like you can get as many bags as you have UPCs.  There is the dreaded "offer good while quantities last" notation, so I'm mailing my UPCs in as soon as possible!  All it's going to cost me is a 44-cent stamp!  If i had had more coupons, I would have purchased a few more boxes to receive an additional reusable bag.  Oh, well, maybe they will be on sale for the upcoming ad week!

But, wait!  It gets better!  On the back of the BlastOButter varieties, I found a "Take the BlastOButter Taste Challenge".  If you like BlastOButter better than any other brand, you can receive $5 in coupons.  If you like your tried and true brand better, Jolly Time will send you a coupon good for one free package of ANY brand (up to $3.00)!  For this you need only fill in the "post card" and mail it in.

Another bonus, both of these offers go to the same address, so I am putting them in the same envelope to save on postage!

Sureway Update!

Stopped in at Sureway yesterday to use my Mezzetta coupons for cheap peppers and discovered that Sureway does indeed double coupons up to $1!  Hooray!  So, those 50-cent and under coupons will be doubled at Sureway!  They do have a limit of three like coupons per person per day (just like Market Place).

For the low, low price of $4, I purchased two jars of peppers and 3 boxes of popcorn!  One thing to note, the coupon I had for the Mezzetta peppers read "Do Not Double".  I'm not sure what happened, but the register did double that coupon saving me an additional buck!  If you want to take advantage of this sale, you've only got today and tomorrow before the sale week ends!  Another thing to note, the popcorn is on sale for 2/$4 but rings up $2 each, so I was able to get 3 boxes at the sale price!

The McCain frozen potatoes were a bit of a disappointment.  Sureway had plenty of variety in Oreida frozen potatoes, but had only a small selection of the McCain.  And if you're like me and think you'll just price match these at Walmart, you'll be surprised to know that I wasn't able to find McCain products at Walmart!  So, I am going to hang onto these coupons and hope that Market Place has a similar sale soon (they weren't on sale at Market Place this week, I checked yesterday).

Purchasing Your Coupons?

Have you ever purchased coupons from a clipping service?  These services are numerous and pricing varies greatly among them.  But, if you take a moment and read the fine print on most coupons, you'll find something like this:

"Void if transferred, sold, auctioned, reproduced, or altered from original."

There's no systematic way for a store to know if you bought a hundred newspapers to get your coupons or if you bought your coupons through a clipping service.  I've purchased coupons through a clipping service.  I've purchased and auctioned coupons on Ebay.  There's always a disclaimer stating the coupons have no monetary value and the price you are paying is for "procuring, clipping, and shipping" the coupons.

What are your thoughts?

Do You Shop At Walgreens?

If you're not a Walgreens shopper, you may be missing out on some good buys!  You can do a google search for "how to shop at Walgreens" and get a measly 12,000,000 hits...now, that's a lot of people who love to shop at Walgreens.  I have two favorite websites for Walgreens couponing info:  http://www.wildforwags.com/  and http://www.iheartwags.com/.  I Heart Wags is great because they post viewable copies of upcoming ads, sometimes weeks in advance!  Wild For Wags gives us daily updates on clearance finds and the register rewards deals that may not be posted in our local stores.

And almost all of the couponing websites send out an email with weekly shopping scenarios.  These scenarios basically give you a play by play for creating your transaction(s) so that you will save the most money.  These are very helpful if you're just wanting to buy products for stockup purposes.  But, since these scenarios are tailored to saving money rather than your individual needs, be sure you're not missing out on a deal for a product that you and your family might put to better use!

It's been a little difficult to coupon with much success at Walgreens in the last few weeks.  There's a slew of couponers hitting up the two stores in Madisonville with an unparalleled greediness!  I hope the "silver lining" will be more stock to meet the needs of couponers all over the county.  As of my shopping trip last week, the stores had not put a limit on the number of "like" BOGO or Register Reward deals you could purchase.  But, this has been the case in other Walgreens that I've visited.  A limit of four, to be exact.  Will we see these restrictions in Hopkins County?  If the couponers don't start being nice to the cashiers, I'd say it's definitely a possibility!

Dollar General $5 off $25 Purchase on June 11th!

Been shopping at Dollar General lately?  Check the bottom of your receipt for the $5 off a $25 purchase good only on June 11th!  If you didn't get one on your receipt, you can go to the website and print one!

http://www.dollargeneral.com/coupons/Pages/index.aspx

The website says there is no weekly circular available this morning, but I will check back later to see if it is updated.  The sales cycle ends on Sunday at Dollar General so if there is going to be a new sale this week, the ad should be posted sometime soon.

If you haven't been to Dollar General in a while, stop in and take a look!  DG has made a lot of changes in the past year and carry a wide variety of products and brands.  And with 7 locations throughout Hopkins County, it's a great place to shop!

Thanks again, and happy couponing!
