The Toilet Paper Rule

I'm posting this for quick and easy reference!

According to a reader's comment on Cuckoo for Coupon Deals, there is an easy way to know what is the "stock up" price for toilet paper.

Stock up when the price is
equal to or less than the square foot.

Easy Example: 16 ct Charmin Basic with 584.5 square feet.
I want to see a price of around $5.84 per package.
Sale price of $6 minus 25-cent coupon = $5.75 **stockup**

Saturday (1/21) ToDo List: Dollar General & Kmart

Don't forget today is the day to save $5 off your purchase of $25 at Dollar General.  Remember, the $25 is BEFORE your manufacturer's coupons, so you can increase your savings by using manufacturer's coupons!  Deal ideas: Dollar items without a coupon, even better with a coupon; Health & Beauty items, smaller packages often mean smaller price tags, but still meet the requirements for manufacturer's coupons!

Today's a great day to take advantage of the Double Coupons at Kmart.  Purchase $25 in grocery/pharmacy products and get 5 coupons doubled at the register ($1 or less)!  Plus, Kmart often offers a "free" item for purchasing $25 so keep an eye on the sale ads.  If they don't have the "free" item, ask if they are substituting something for it.  Deal idea: Soda has been priced 3 for $9 the past two weeks and is a great item to bump up your total toward the $25 mark.

Save 55-cents off ONE Big Roll or Larger Package of Brawny Paper Towels

If the big rolls are part of the 10 for $10 at Kroger, that's where I would use this coupon!

Save $1.00 off ONE 8-Roll or Larger Package of Brawny Paper Towels

The 8-roll pack has been $7 at Dollar General, and this coupon would double at Kmart, so keep an eye on prices to see where you can get the most value!

Save $1.00 off Dial for Men Speed Foam Body Wash

I haven't noticed this product in stores, have you?  Keep an eye on those big, green cardboard bins at Walmart!

Free Card with purchase of 2 greeting cards and coupon

The wording on this coupon is strange...why would they include the "and coupon" part?  I'm reading that the American Greetings cards are available at CVS and Rite Aid.  I usually buy my cards at Dollar General or Dollar Tree, so I can't say for sure if AG Cards are available locally or not!

USPS: Stamps increase to 45-cents

It's not exactly a coupon thing, but you can save 20-cents per book if you purchase your stamps today instead of waiting until next week!

That's right, postage rates will rise by one-cent tomorrow (1/22).

I love the post office and the luxury of getting mail delivered to my house so I'm not upset by this 1-cent increase.  The last increase was in 2009, so the USPS should be way down on the list of things to complain about!

Shopping at Market Place (1/20)

Here's a little summary of my Market Place shopping today (Friday, 1/20)...

General Mills Cereal 5/$10
If you're planning to take advantage of the 5/$10 cereal sale, be sure to look at all of the participating varieties.  I found two boxes of regular Cheerios for $2.  When I spotted the difference in size, I put the first two boxes back and grabbed the 14 oz box with Two Box Tops on it!  Those were the only two boxes I purchased and they rang up for $2 each so you shouldn't need to purchase 5 boxes if you don't need them.  Keep an eye on the expiration dates, though; these boxes expire in October.

Swiss Miss 98-cents
I didn't do a store search or ask anyone about the Swiss Miss, but the box I found on the shelf had a tag for $1.18.  That's still not a bad price, but 98-cents is better.  The good news is that the ad DOES show the 10 ct for 98-cents so you should be able to get the price adjusted at the register if it's ringing up for $1.18.  I didn't need cocoa so I just passed on that deal today.

Borden Shredded Cheese $2.38 & Cheese Slices $1.75
I didn't spot any of the Borden Shredded Cheese, but I did grab a pack of the cheese slices for $1.75!

Dawn Dish Liquid $1.18
Great news!  The Dawn w/ Olay IS on sale for $1.18!  Get a bottle for 18-cents with the 50-cent off coupon in the 1/1 P&G insert!  In the past we've seen Dawn for under a buck, but I went ahead and used my coupon today incase we don't see the price fall below $1.18 before the coupon expires.

Green Giant Canned Vegetables 2/$1
There's no coupon for these, but 50-cents is my "buy it" price for canned goods so I grabbed a couple cans of green beans for my donation box.

Store Brand Taco Seasoning
It's not advertised in the sale ad, but I spotted the Store Brand (Great Value? yellow packages) of Taco Seasoning for 4/$1!  I am really kicking myself for not grabbing several of those for the donation box.  They would make great donation items!  You'll find those in the isle with all the various seasoning packets.  I didn't check to see if they stock them in the "Mexican food" isle, so you might double check there, too!

Culinary Crafts: The Big 21

You may need your box of tissues for this week's The Big 21 over at Culinary Crafts (you can also find it on iSurf)!  I got a little misty-eyed reading it!  And I'm definitely "pinning" that dip recipe to my Pinterest board for future reference!  Oh, and Happy Birthday, JoJo!

I love to leave comments on blogs that I love to follow, so head over and checkout the comment I left today!  It's got a savings tip for one of those great recipes Leigh shared with us!  I'm sort of on the fence about that oatmeal one...I may have to try that one near the holidays!

Head over to the Brawny Facebook page for a great "$1.00 off any one package of Brawny Paper Towels" coupon.  The single rolls are 10 for $10 at Kroger this week; get one free with this coupon.  I guess you can't get better than free....but if you buy the 8-roll package this Saturday during the save $5 on your $25 purchase at Dollar General, you'll get each roll for around 58-cents.  Or, you can wait for a sale at Kmart and take advantage of a double coupon day!  My coupons printed with a March 31st expiration date!  Plenty of time to wait for a good sale!
