If you are lucky enough to live in or near Princeton, Central City, or Hopkinsville you will be happy to hear that Fred's Super Dollar DOUBLES coupons on Saturdays! Yes, you read that right. Fred's will double manufacturer's coupons with a face value of 70-cents or less EVERY SATURDAY! They do have several limitations in their coupon acceptance policy (check out the FAQ for the details) so be sure to read it before you head out to shop. The big bummer for me is that they won't accept internet printable coupons that are printed in black and white. There is also a "like" item/coupon limit, so take a few people with you when you shop. But, as you can see from the picture at the right, you can do some serious saving at Fred's on Saturdays! Reader Leigh saved about 63%! Awesome, totally awesome! To sweeten the deal, if you're shopping in Princeton or Hopkinsville on a Saturday, grab the Saturday Edition of the Kentucky New Era and you'll be happy to find Sunday's coupon inserts in there! Thanks Leigh, for sharing your trip with us! I'm totally jealous!

Get a Rain Check at Market Place
I haven't made it to Market Place to get my 98-cent Domino Sugar and I'm afraid it'll be wiped out by the time I get there this afternoon! No worries, though, because if they are sold out I'll just get a rain check and hope that it restocks before my coupon expires! Not sure if the Rain Check itself has an expiration date, some places give you 30 days to use it or lose it. Gotta love those Rain Checks!
Doing Any Shopping on Ebay?
Reader Leigh made a great point this weekend about shopping on Ebay. When you're browsing the auctions, be sure to check where the seller is located. If they are on the East coast, you might want to think long and hard before bidding/buying the item. Hurricane Irene has unleashed havoc up the Eastern seaboard from the Carolina's up through the New England states. I know those Ebay sellers would appreciate your business, but many of them are not going to be able to fulfill orders right now. Glad Leigh brought that up so I could pass it along!
Gas $3.55 at Mortons Truckstop, $3.68-$3.73 in Nortonville
Wow, so glad I drove out to the Mortons Truck Stop this morning for gas! I paid $3.55/gallon at the Pilot. That's up ten cents since last week. But, if you're filling up in downtown Nortonville be prepared to pay $3.68-$3.73/gallon (yikes!). Who thinks we'll be facing $4/gallon prices by the end of the year? Anyone besides me?
Hot Coupon Topics
I'm just getting around to reading through all the coupon emails I got yesterday. Here are the things that caught my attention this morning!
- Living Rich With Coupons: Coupons Expiring by 9/4; be sure to forward your expired coupons to a military family overseas who can use them for about 6 months past the exiration date!
- Living Rich With Coupons: P&G Coupons in Parade Magazine; I'm not sure if it's called Parade in this part of the country, but be sure to give it a flip through before you throw it away. If you read the blog yesterday, you know I didn't get out and get a paper, so I can not confirm if there were coupons in it! Anyone know? Leave a comment!
- I Heart Kroger: Kroger Spin to Win Instant Game; I had a hard time figuring out which was the correct link to the Kroger site, so just click here to go directly to Kroger. There are 4 pages of P&G ecoupons you can load to your Kroger card. But! Before you start loading everything, remember that a 50-cent paper coupon will double, a 50-cent ecoupon will NOT double! I loaded several $1 and $0.75 coupons to my card, but did not add anything with a 50-cent or less face value!
- Money Saving Madness: Free Renuzit Cones at Walmart; this deal was posted months ago and I still think it's kind of sketchy. There is a coupon (get it here) for Renuzit Super Odor Neutralizer, the coupon shows a bottle of spray, but they manufacture an air freshener cone with the same name. I say, yes the coupon will probably scan without a beep. I also say that I am not going to be taking advantage of this deal. If I use this coupon, it'll be for the spray and not the cone. But, that's just me.
- My Litter: Why I Love Moms; if this one doesn't make you tear up a little....I can't believe they make the kids walk/bike to school! I don't know if our school system even allows this anymore! Sorry, no coupon news in this one, just a really nice story!
- MoJo Savings: Coupons in September Magazines; ok, confession time. I
am(whoopsie! typo!) tend to impulse buy magazines at the checkout. Now, I can feed my coupon addiction at the same time! - MoJo Savings: $100 off a $200 Purchase at Lane Bryant; this is for an online deal, but saving $100 is an awesome thing to pass along!

Didn't get out for a paper this morning...
Do you think I'm crazy for not getting out to buy a paper this morning? I do have my mail subscription (Owensboro Messenger Inquirer) that'll arrive Tuesday or Wednesday, so I'm not going to miss out completely on this weekends coupons. I've been watching the coupons that I use the most and have realized that most of them are internet printables and I don't have to leave home to get them. This just happened to be a weekend when I didn't see a lot of insert coupons that I thought we'd use. That's the great thing about the coupon previews! Now I just wish I could have slept in! Have a happy Sunday everyone!
Printable: McCain's Purely Potatoes
Click to Print! McCain’s Purely Potatoes (8/28:06082)
Choose from White Potato Chunks or Sweet Potato Chunks!
These frozen potaotes are awesome! You steam them in the microwave then blend them up for easy-peasy mashed potatoes! Great for those of us who hate to peel real potatoes! I haven't tried the McCain's brand, but I love their Smiley Face Fries so I'm betting the mashed potatoes are good, too!

Save on Scotch Brite Wipes
A couple things caught my attention when I pulled up the Scotch-Brite website. First, I saw Scotch-Brite wipes at Walmart, in the school supply area near the registers, sorry didn't price check them! Second, there's a coupon for Scotch-Brite Botanical Disinfecting Wipes (Save $0.50/1). Third, you're supposed to rinse the surface after using other brand wipes, like Lysol? What? I don't typically lay food directly on my counter, but I'd never have thought about chemicals from the wipes remaining on my countertops! Yuck! I will definitely be looking to switch the Scotch-Brite when my supply of Lysol wipes runs out!
Printables: All, Surf, Libby's, Rhodes
iSurf: Dollars & Sense 8/27
Dollars & Sense is all about Catalinas this week, thanks Leigh! Catalinas are those awesome little coupons you get when you checkout at Walgreens, Kroger, and Kmart (I've never received one at Kmart, have you?). You might also hear or see them referred to as "cats". Never ever throw those things away without looking at them! The coupons are usually a higher value than what you get in the weekly paper!
If you've earned a "save on your next order" cat, you can only use it at the store where you received it. But, if you've gotten a "manufacturer's coupon" you should be able to use it at Walmart. Walmart's coupon policy specifically says they will accept cats from other stores. You don't have to pull out your Walmart coupon policy if your cashier says she can't accept it because it has a Kroger store logo on it. Just point out that it is a "manufacturer's coupon" and that it should scan like any other "manufacturer's coupon".
The little printers that print the Catalina coupons must be in ink saver mode, because the pictures and words are often very pale. Luckily, I've never had one denied because it wouldn't scan. If you have a catalina and you're trying to use it at another grocery store, you may not have a lot of luck. I'm pretty sure that if it won't scan, the grocery stores in Hopkins County won't accept it.
You can checkout Coupon Network to see what products are offering a "save on your next order" catalina. Right now there are promotions for: Hellmann's, Nestle Morsels, Silk milk, Ghirardelli Bars, Various Cleaning Supplies, Axe, Yoplait, Pampers, just to name a few! The promotions aren't available at all stores, but the website will let you know if it's available in your area! Remember that little show Extreme Couponing? It didn't emphasis this, but the couponers used a great deal of "save on your next order" cats to take off a big chunk from their totals. That's right, they didn't save all that money just using coupons! Oh the controversy!
Thanks Leigh, for another great inspire to save article!
